Let your soul catch up with you
I helped work on a mural today at an elementary school, designed by the good people of LA Street Productions. By "worked on", I mean that when I showed up the mural was 85% completed. I just took instruction and tried not to damage the artistic vision. I'm pretty sure they could have gotten along without me, but I needed to participate in the creation of beauty rather badly today, so I inflicted myself on the process. I painted shadows on some mountains, filled in some letters, spruced up a tree a bit, and spilled purple paint on the asphalt.
Over lunch, John told me a story. I seem to have used up all my creativity on the mural, and John told me to keep writing, so I shall steal his story and pretend I'm being profound.
There was a guy travelling through the bush in Africa. He had a group of porters carrying all of his things, and the group moved faster than he expected. After a couple of days, he calculated how much ground they had covered and was happy to realize that they would reach their destination sooner than he expected. After they stopped for lunch that day, the porters didn't get up after they had eaten to continue their journey. When he asked them why, they said, "We have travelled too fast. Now we must let our souls catch up with us." So they waited for a day and a half until they felt one with their souls again.
John told me to let my soul to catch up with me. How fast does my soul travel?

oh - that is profound. crap - that's why i feel so out of sorts. that's it exactly. i'm stunned. this must be pondered. thanks christy! btw - thanks for agreeing to let me know if i piss you off! :) we alpha females need to stick together!

That is a great line, and i agree with Bobbie ... it's to be pondered. The story of my life ... thanks for passing it on.
